The Memorandum of Commissary J. A. de Mist: Containing Recommendations for the Form & Administration of the Cape of Good Hope, 1802 translated by Kathleen M. Jeffreys is the report of the commission sent to the Cape in the critical years between the two British occupations. The purpose of the report was to decide on the future government of the Cape, but it ranged widely over social, economic and political conditions of the Cape at the end of the 18th century.
